How about, you are someone who looks to singing and/or piano as a hobby or an activity that brings you joy? Whoever you are and whatever circumstance you are coming from, I welcome anyone and everyone into my studio. I have the experience, tools and flexibility to meet each individual where they are at and structure our lessons to cater your needs. Whether your goals are to achieve a career in music or you would like to feel more confident when you sing karaoke with your friends, I’ve got you covered.

Over my 7+ years of teaching experience, my teaching philosophy has come to take the form of what I like to call, a holistic approach. I believe that as we get to know each other over the course of our time working together, it is my goal to help my students not only hone their musical skills but in addition, we challenge each other to grow in other ways as well. A skill of mine is the ability to be flexible from student to student. If you are looking for a teacher with more of a structured manner who holds you accountable to practice, I can do that for you. If you are looking to your lessons as an escape from your every day life and cannot commit much time outside of lessons for practice, that is great too. I believe that regardless of your situation, music should be in your life at whatever capacity you can make it fit.

In addition to teaching, I am currently pursuing a Masters in Social Work. With two music degrees under my belt, I will soon additionally be an Advanced Level Social Worker. I have spent my life passionate about social justice, equality, accessibility and cultural humility. I plan to take my MSW and help my community in a tangible way. I feel as though, I bring these qualities, skills and attributes into my teaching career as well. I believe that everyone should have access to music in any capacity. It is my goal to help my immediate communities and beyond attain voice and piano lessons.

My experience

"On March 1st, Rachel Love stood out in the role of Fiordiligi, owning the show. A fantastically powerful soprano, her voice is like chocolate-covered strawberries. Her every aria was a marvel. Watch for great things in her future."

Being a native of Orange County, New York, my music career started at a young age where I studied Voice and Piano very seriously throughout my adolescent years. In 2010, I moved to Hartford, CT, to pursue a B.M. in Vocal Performance from The Hartt School of Music within the University of Hartford. During my time, I performed the role of Anna Maurrant in Weill’s Street Scene and prepared a recital featuring works by Bolcom, Gluck, Verdi and Wagner.

After graduating, I moved to NYC where I worked for a music studio in Midtown, Manhattan. During my time in NYC, I worked with the LEIMAY Foundation to perform Thresholds, a Visual Performance Art piece in Green-Wood Cemetery, reviewed by the New York Times.

Shortly after my time in NYC, I moved back to Hartford, CT, to pursue my career in teaching. In 2015, I started to build my studio of Voice and Piano lessons through Summit Studios, a music studio in Manchester, CT. I taught students of all ages. I also held a position within the The Cathedral Schola Cantorum at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford CT. Over the course of the next few years, I continued to gig in and out of the Tri State and New England area.

In 2018, I accepted a position as a Voice Excellence Fellow at the Mead Witter School of Music within the University of Wisconsin—Madison to pursue a M.M. in Vocal Performance. During my time, I performed the roles of Helena in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte. I also prepared a recital featuring works by Brahms, Kahane, Satie and Verdi. While at UW, I also worked as a Voice and Opera TA holding a studio of undergraduate students.

Rachel Love Studio LLC was founded in 2020. I currently hold a studio of private students.
